Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. At the age of five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at her first Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she was going to become an actress and for several years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agent through their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in the year 2001. The film set records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards in the film.
